Pretty in Pink

I just finished up my apron for the apron swap over at Craftster. I used a pink wrap skirt that I love, but never wear, and added some trim to it. It's simple, but I'm pleased. I hope she likes it!

Here's a detail of the pocket:

What's for dinner

It's hard to resist fresh asparagus at this time of the year. When it's in season, I want to eat it every day. It also is hard to resist taking pictures of your dinner when you're about to eat this:

I got needles last night so I can start on Sueet. I also stumbled across a knitalong, being hosted by Unfurnished Brooklyn. Hooray for my 1st knitalong!

Someday, there's going to be a clothes swap at my house, and when there is, I'm going to read this thread at Get Crafty.

I got a little bit done on my Vintage Knits camisole. Only 2.5 in left until I finish the back piece!

There's one place where my column of eyelets is a little wonky, but I'm trying to ignore it. I know a good knitter would've ripped it back to the wonky place and redone it, but at the rate I'm going with this project, it would be December before I finished it if I did that. So I'm not gonna. So there.

I'm back!

Phew! It's been a while, hasn't it? I stopped posting because I got so busy with band stuff, but now that I won't be playing shows for a while, I've finally got some time for my own projects. So of course, I've got a zillion things going on. Here's a list of my works in progress:

  • I'm waiting on yarn (cherry red GGH Kid Soft) to arrive so I can start Grace. After reading this about the pattern, I'm a little nervous about starting it. I'm also not sure about knitting it in mohair. It's already 90 degrees every day, so unless I can invent an air conditioned bubble for me to fasten around myself as I walk to and from work everyday, I'm going to have serious problems.
  • I just got the yarn (Berroco Suede in Calamity Jane), I already have lining fabric, and now I've gotta size 7 dpns so I can start Sueet.
  • Last night, I started on a blanket for the Critter Knitters knitalong. I'm crocheting a medium-sized (24 x 24 in) blanket in charcoal grey wool-ease thick & quick. I'm using yarn I originally bought to knit up Cape Mod from the SnB book. Given that I missed the narrow springtime weather window for poncho wearing, I figure that using the yarn for a critter blanket or two will be a better use for it. Plus, by the time fall poncho time rolls around, I'm sure I'll have spotted some other yarn that I'd rather use for the project!
  • I'm working on a tank top in Crystal Palace Deco-Ribbon. It's my 1st project with tape/ribbon yarn, and is also my 1st attempt at making something without a pattern. It was going well until I got up to the armhole shaping. I tried it on just to check my progress and realized that it was way too big. Damn you, ribbon, for being so hard to knit to gauge!
  • I recently bought a pile of Cascade 220 in a lovely buttery yellow color. It's destined to become a cardigan someday. I'm determined to knit it in the round and steek the openings. I've been scouring the internet for patterns, and have it narrowed down to this one or this one. I'm leaning toward the second one because I like the collar better. I haven't decided on a stitch pattern yet. I'd like to do it in something other than boring ole' stockinette, but I don't want to commit to a complicated or time-consuming pattern. Since this is my first sweater project, I'd like it to go smoothly. I don't want to make it too hard on myself, especially since I'll be tackling the steeking concept. I don't need to fry my brain because of a sweater.
  • Also on my needles is the camisole from the cover of Vintage Knits. I'm using apple green Rowan Cotton Glace. I'm about 2/3 of the way done with the back piece. It's going very slowly. Very, very slowly.

So, that's what I've got going on in terms of yarn projects. I'll post pics of my works in progress soon! Oh, and I'll post more about my other projects, and maybe someday I'll get around to posting my Japan pics...
